Metric System 1981
Michael Schacht is a boardgame designer and composer from Frankfurt/Germany, who also produces calm ambient music with his main project Metric System 1981.

In the Eighties Michael released mostly Berlin School-influenced electronic music, at the zenith of the music cassette underground. All that recorded at that time analogue - of course - with Fostex tape deck and Korg MS-20, MS-50, SQ-10 and the wonderful Vocoder. A few of his cassettes got distributed by the legendary shop in Berlin, whose owner is also known as "Der wahre Heino".

Michael re-started his project in 2020 after a break of several decades, recalling his ever lasting love for the work of Harold Budd & Brian Eno and with returning new inspiration. The following years were very productive with numerous releases: among them several soundtracks, like for his award winning boardgame Zooloretto, accompanied by collaborations with Le Code, Edoardo Gastaldi, Michael D. Tidwell, 58918012, Shane Beck and Marcelo A. Diaz.

His meditative and cinematic soundscapes capture the audience, taking them on a journey through imaginary landscapes of sound... and letting time stand still.
